Best of Both Worlds
Gi and No-Gi Classes
At Gracie Barra Sternschanze, we offer both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes to cater to the diverse training preferences of our students. Whether you prefer the traditional gi-based training or the dynamic nature of no-gi grappling, we have you covered
The Benefits of Gi Training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Our gi classes provide a traditional BJJ experience, where practitioners wear the traditional gi or kimono during training. The gi offers numerous gripping opportunities, allowing for a strong focus on technique, leverage, and control. In these classes, you will learn to use the gi to your advantage, mastering collar chokes, sleeve grips, and various gi-based submissions. The gi training enhances your understanding of grips, defensive techniques, and positional control, contributing to a well-rounded skill set.
Experienced Instructors for Both Gi and No-Gi Classes
Both gi and no-gi classes at Gracie Barra Sternschanze are led by our experienced and dedicated instructors, who will guide you through a comprehensive curriculum suitable for all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, our classes are designed to provide a challenging and rewarding training experience.
No-Gi Grappling: A Dynamic and Submission-Focused Approach
For those seeking a faster-paced and more submission-focused approach, our no-gi classes are the perfect choice. In these classes, practitioners wear shorts and rash guards instead of the gi, promoting a more fluid and dynamic grappling style. Without the grips provided by the gi, no-gi training emphasizes body control, effective positioning, and using your opponent's limbs and body for control and submission setups. You will learn to adapt your techniques and rely on wrestling techniques and transitions to gain dominance on the mats.
Embrace the Best of Both Worlds at Gracie Barra Sternschanze
By offering both gi and no-gi classes, we ensure that our students have the opportunity to explore different aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and develop a well-rounded skill set. Whether your goal is to compete, improve self-defense skills, or simply enjoy the physical and mental benefits of BJJ, we have the classes to suit your needs.
Gracie Barra Adult Programs
Can a Jiu-Jitsu student learn more and learn faster? Is it beneficial to have one-on-one time with my instructor?
- Jiu-Jitsu is like any other sport or activity:
- your progress is a consequence of how hard and how smart you work.
Group classes are the best proven way to teach Jiu-Jitsu, since the diversity of training partners creates more and different challenges allowing a student to improve more quickly.
However, private classes are definitely an essential complement that no serious Jiu-Jitsu student should do without. The individual attention and approach that a 60 minutes session with one of our instructors provides can and does lead to significant improvement in a students Jiu-Jitsu game flow.
It is highly recommended that all students take at least one private lesson per month to review techniques and address specific challenges in his or her Jiu-Jitsu game.
